The BioPark
Innovation Prize

The BioPark Innovation Prize is aimed at graduates with an outstanding, novel and application-oriented idea from the life- or health-sciences. Together with the patent and law firm Dehmel & Bettenhausen from Munich, which is based at the BioPark, the two best ideas are awarded in Regensburg every winter semester.

By awarding the Innovation Prize, BioPark Regensburg GmbH aims to promote the transfer of knowledge and the utilization of new technologies and inventions from research to industry. The Innovation Prize is intended to make exceptional research and its practical benefits accessible to the public.
The competition is aimed at regional university and non-university research institutions in Regensburg.
The prize is intended to encourage scientists to bring their inventions into the economy as marketable technologies or products.

The prize will be awarded to two innovations that can demonstrate a very high application aspect and potential economic benefit, as evidenced by a current publication, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral or post-doctoral thesis to be submitted.

Scope of funding

  • 2 x 1.500, – € endowed prizes
  • A free consultation voucher for a patent application (Dehmel & Bettenhausen law firm)
  • A start-up consultation (BioPark Regensburg GmbH)
  • Depending on availability, free rental of premises in the BioPark as part of the BioPark Jump accelerator

Selection criteria

For a successful application the research work must fulfill the following general conditions:

  • Affiliation with Regensburg University or University of Applied Sciences
  • The publication, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral or post-doctoral thesis to be submitted must be in the field of “Life Sciences”, medical informatics, medical technology or “Health Sciences”.
  • The publication, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral or post-doctoral thesis to be submitted must have a high application-related aspect or benefit.

Procedure and deadlines

Applications must be received by the BioPark Regensburg GmbH office electronically at biotechpreis@biopark-regensburg.de in PDF format (less than 10 MB) by 11.10.2024 (closing date).

Prize winners will be notified in writing. Prize winners from the University of Regensburg will receive the prize (check) at the annual “Dies Academicus” at the end of November. Prize winners of the OTH will receive the prize (check) at the annual “Dies Academicus” in November.
